The Summit for Democracy will be held on March 29 and 30, where the President of the United States, Joe Biden, will co-host and the Chilean company EVoting will represent the region in the final of the Tech4Democracy award.

The second edition of the Summit for Democracy will be held on March 29 and 30 and will be headed by the President of the United States and the governments of Costa Rica, the Netherlands, the Republic of Korea and the Republic of Zambia.

During the event, the final of the Tech4Democracy Award, a competition promoted by IE University, the U.S. Department of State and Microsoft, will be held, which rewards startups that strengthen democracy in the world.

The Chilean company EVoting will represent South America after winning the Tech4Democracy Venture Day, held at the Universidad de Los Andes in Bogota, Colombia, on October 10.

In the final, it will compete against the winners from North America (Atlos - USA), Europe (Citibeats - Spain), Asia Pacific (Right2Vote - India) and Africa (FloodGates Limited - Ghana).

The winners of these regional competitions were chosen based on their contribution to democratic values, technological innovation, feasibility/scalability and potential investor interest. In addition to the experience, knowledge, skills and diversity of their teams.

“This is the most important award that EVoting has received and the most relevant recognition in this industry”, said Mario Novoa, EVoting’s CEO, after receiving the award that accredits them as winners in Bogota.

The first edition of the Summit for Democracy was held in 2021 and around 100 governments participated, and more than 700 commitments were made to promote democracy, fight corruption and counteract authoritarianism.

This time, the event seeks to demonstrate how democracies deliver for their citizens and are better equipped to address the world’s most pressing challenges.
