Isidora Zaldívar, Investor Relations Leader at Colbún S.A. acknowledges that, two years ago, it was difficult for them to make the decision to hold their annual shareholders’ meeting electronically. “In 2020 there was no company that demonstrated experience in holding remote meetings, and management is a bit more conservative in its culture about doing a lot of innovative things,” she says.
Last year, however, they became convinced that incorporating new technologies into these traditional meetings was not only a necessity but also an opportunity. And they decided to look for a company that would give them confidence: “We had meetings with the IT area and we saw that EVoting was by far the most experienced in what was being done, had the most technical knowledge and was also the most tested by IPSA companies. In that context, we made the decision and the truth is that the system suited us very well”.
And what aspects were key to convincing shareholders to hold their shareholders’ meetings electronically?
There were many things that mattered, such as how many companies were doing it individually or through external services, and which companies they were. For example, it was not the same, at least not for our management, whether IPSA companies were doing it or not. And also, internally, the opinion of our IT team as to which company they felt more confident with was quite influential.
What was most valued in terms of service?
I think that the attention and availability of the people to solve any doubt. Something super remarkable. And obviously the platform works, it doesn’t crash, it works like clockwork.
You have already held 2 shareholder meetings with EVoting. In the light of the experience, what is your evaluation of the process?
I think we had the right meetings to know well how the process worked and what to expect. Then, at the time of contracting the services, the truth is that we did not have any negative surprises. Nothing different from what we hired happened. The experience was positive in the sense that everything went very well. We knew what to expect from the service. Very good, always available, everything was impeccable, I have nothing to say.
