CHILEAN CHAMBER OF CONSTRUCTION’S REGIONAL ELECTRONIC ELECTIONS INCLUDED AN UNPRECEDENTED ONLINE MONITORING SYSTEM

Our technological innovation allowed the 9 Qualifying Boards to supervise the renewal process of their Regional Boards of Directors and Regional Councilors.

Eight new Regional Boards of Directors and nine Regional Councilors are the result of the internal elections that the Chilean Chamber of Construction held electronically between June 29 and August 19.

This year, the voting platform had a technological innovation specially designed for the process: a new monitoring system that allowed the respective Election Qualifying Boards to see, directly and in real time, who had voted and who had not.

EVoting’s Voting Manager, Felipe Lorca, pointed out that this innovation “made the process even more efficient and transparent”. He explained that it seeks to emulate the registration of those who have voted and those who have not, as is done by the polling station officials in traditional face-to-face voting. “The difference is that this is much more dynamic and allows immediate action to be taken,” he stated.

Lorca added that the respective members of the Qualifying Boards were accredited and specially trained, and then validated by EVoting to access the virtual electoral roll monitoring platform.

The elections were held between June 29 and August 19 with the participation of more than 550 members. The highest voter turnout was recorded in Coyhaique, where 95% of the accredited members voted.

The cities that participated on this occasion were Arica, La Serena, Antofagasta, Calama, Valparaíso, Rancagua, Los Ángeles, Puerto Montt and Coyhaique. Adding the regional chambers that voted this year, and those of 2020, sums 18 chambers that have renewed their boards of directors with EVoting.
