WITH 61 VOTES AND 60 ASSEMBLIES, MAY HAS BEEN THE MONTH WITH MOST ACTIVITY IN THE HISTORY OF EVOTING AND CROWNS THE CELEBRATION OF #7YEARSOFEVOTING.
“After 7 years of experience in different areas of society and in different countries, we have a contribution to make to the new society we all want to build”. With those words, the founding partner and Chairman of the Board of EVoting; José Miguel Piquer, kicked off a month of celebrations of the company’s 7 years. Because, with a total of 61 electronic votes and 60 electronic assemblies, May was the busiest month in EVoting’s history. Compared to last year, when there were 89 processes -between voting and assemblies- there was an increase of 36%.
The Commercial Manager of the company, Mario Novoa, believes that the best crowning achievement of the 7 years was the support of the clients, “institutions and people who, once again or for the first time, entrusted us with their processes”. The same vision has been expressed by several of the company’s clients, including one that debuted with its election of Elective Directors 2021-2025: the Sociedad de Fomento Fabril, SOFOFA. Its Secretary General, Rafael Palacios, pointed out that the experience with electronic voting was so positive that “we are starting -but it will probably reach its destination- a modification of the bylaws that will allow voting to always be by this means, regardless of the context”. Another area that is advancing steadily is the presence of EVoting in various Latin American countries. In May, 3 votes were held in Perú -Fábrica de Chocolates La Ibérica S.A, Sociedad Nacional de Industrias, and TS - LOGISTIC S.A.C-, and 5 assemblies: in Costa Rica -CoopeJudicial-, in Argentina -Cooperativa AG Necochea- and in Panama -PH Toc-.
Gabriela Tijerino, Commercial Director for Costa Rica and Central America, confirmed the growing interest in e-participation in the region: “It has been surprising to see how many institutions, of all kinds, have asked about this remote and electronic way of making decisions. I thought it was going to be more difficult to convince of the advantages of these platforms, given that there is always a certain reticence to what is new, but this has not been the case. On the contrary, both the voting and the assemblies have had a significant and growing acceptance”.
